Chihuahua Lovers: Three Sites To Keep In Mind

Recently, I've been working on a few new projects in the dog community. As the owner of the chihuahua clothes shop, I've kept busy with maintaining that store, but I've also been working on these three new sites that have to do with large dog beds, custom dog collars, and dog name tags. I've been wanting to help dog owners in these three areas for a while, now, and I'm happy to announce that I'll be expanding my efforts into these three little corners of the dog product world over the next few months and, hopefully, years.

Dog Pyjamas: Keeping Your Chihuahua Warm At Night

Dog pyjamas: I used to think they were a joke. Now, I'm using them on my chihuahuas every night over here in Canada. They help keep my little buggers warm at night so they can stand to sleep wherever they want instead of constantly trying to jump up on my bed and burrow beneath the covers at night!

Of course, over here, we spell it "dog pajamas", but that's beside the point. You can find out more about these practical little dog outfits here. :)

Chihuahua Coats The Ideal Winter Fashion For Chihuahuas

It's winter time, and up here in Canada and the UK in particular, it is bloody cold! Thankfully for me, I have my chihuahuas with me; thankfully for them, they have their chihuahua coats! Without these warm winter chihuahua clothes on their back, these little buggers would not be very happy campers--that much is certain!

And it's not just the smaller dogs I'm seeing up here with heavy dog coats on: there are a lot of bigger breeds with short hair that don't exactly find snow and ice to be the most thrilling of experiences, and that shake their cute little buts off when they're naked. Fortunately, most of the cold, northern nations of today are fairly developed and socially conscious of animals, and so people in colder climates tend to take good care of their pets and clothe them when it cools off dramatically in the frigid winter! 

If you have smaller dogs, especially if they're chihuahuas, then you're almost certain to have a few coats for chihuahuas in your little dog's wardrobe. If you don't, all you have to do is go here, check out the coats for dogs, and you're off to the races!

Goodbye Halloween Chihuahua Clothes!

Costumes for Dogs Looking Like A Big Deal This Halloween!

It appears that dog owners of every kind are in the mood for playing dress up with their four legged friends. It Looks like 2011 could be the biggest year yet for Halloween dog costumes, according to the retail tracking organization known as the National Retail Federation. I don't know about you, but if I can get my chihuahua to look half as cute as this guy, I'll be one of the many it sounds like, having fun and forking over bones to enjoy dressing her up this Halloween!

Man spends $40K on his chihuahua!

Some Chewalla owners just can't help but splurge a pile money on their little doggies. This guy has opened up a new dog shop and has reportedly spent over $40K on his little Chihuahua alone! Check it out below:

It seems that the sky is the limit for some chihuahuas and their rich owners. I can't say that's me, but I sure do envy them!

Chihuahuas and Cesar Millan

Personally, I'm a big advocate of Cesar Millan and the philosophy he teaches in his show, The Dog Whisperer and in his books, seminars, and all his products. I think no matter what kind of a dog you have, be it a shelter rescue or a pure breed, a doberman or a chihuahua, you and your dogs and the relationship you share could suffer far worse things you following Cesar's advice. Famous Chihuahua just posted an article about this very thing, and I completely, 100% agree with them.

his work with tougher breeds has been phenomenal and has given many dogs a second chance. working with traditionally aggressive breeds like pit bulls and small protective dog breeds like chihuahuas has allowed cesar to succeed with communicating and rehabilitating dogs in a matter of minutes.

Hotdog With Mustard Dog Costumes... Delicious!

I wasn't always a fan of dog costumes, but I've been a fan of laughing for quite a while. I'm guessing that's why I love this hotdog with mustard costume so much! Check it out:

The hotdog costume is a favorite of many, in fact, and it's probably because not only is it so darn adorable (especially on chihuahuas and other tiny dogs!--little hotdogs, haha!), it has the whole double entendre going for it!

Dog Apparel for Small Dogs

I just wrote a little article about dog apparel for small dogs that speaks to the issue of people buying cute chihuahua clothes for their dogs but neglecting their dog's basic needs. I don't mean to imply that most dog owners dog this, but I'm seeing an alarming number of dogs that look great on the outside but that are clearly a having some issues on the inside. And when it comes to a dog's well being, I'm of the opinion that it's the owner who is responsible.

You can dress up your dogs in all the cutest dog apparel for small dogs that you want from the Chihuahua Shop, but if you don't walk your dog well, have some rules you maintain with him/her, and honor that side of your dog that IS a dog, no amount of cute chihuahua clothing is going to cover over the little monster you might end up with on your hands :(  Just some food for thought...

Dog Collars and Leads

Few dog lovers would argue that dog collars and leads are among the most prominent of your dog's jewelry and bling. Chihuahuas wear their fashionable dog collars all day long, and when you take your pet chihuahua for a walk, you use their leads/leash. For some (most, actually), the leash is simply a necessary tool for the walk. But for other chihuahua lovers, who are a bit more fashion-inclined, the lead is an opportunity to take their little chihuahua's fashion to the next level and really make a statement with a lead that matches their dog's collar!

Studded Dog Collars

Everywhere I look today in malls and along the downtown sidewalks, I see dog bags for small dogs over the shoulder of a lot of small dog owners. The chihuahua lovers in particular love their faux couture Louis Vuitton little dog bags, for carrying their little pups around in!

I've been talking to different customers about what they'd like to see in the way of dog bags for small dogs at the Chihuahua Shop, and I've been getting some great ideas for future additions to the already superb selection of quality dog carriers for smaller dogs we're carrying at the moment. Dog Accessories In The UK

I visit England once in a while, and while I'm over there, I like to check out the dog accessories UK style before I return back to America and all of its Beverly Hills Chihuahua fare. Some of the dog fashion and the chihuahua accessories are little different, mostly in terms of PRICE (it's freaking expensive!), but most of it is identical and exactly the same as the small dog accessories you find across the rest of the planet.

Most of the time when you're in the UK with your chihuahua and your other little dogs, you just want to chill out, go see Big Ben, visit West Minister, and shop around London for your own stuff. But it is fun to check out the UK chihuahua boutiques. Some of them have good product, but I've found that the best UK dog boutique is online: the Chihuahua Shop. They carry some of the best dog accessories UK dog owners can get their hands on quickly, as it's based in the England and ships from there as well. Perhaps my favorite type of chihuahua collars are the fashion dog collars that you'll see shipping out from the online pet stores, today! They're so stylish and, especially if you own a chihuahua doggie, you can make your pooch into the cutest little fashion diva you've ever seen! They're SO adorable!

If you're a bit of a collector of funky, stylish collars for your dog, you're going to want to check them out!

I'm seeing if I can bring the above cool dog collars into the Chihuahua Store soon, as these designer collars are totally adorable and look amazing! So stay tuned and I'll see what I can do for you, if you're a fashion chihuahua lover like me who loves cool dog collars!

Puppy Boutique

It's been fun taking a look at all the new puppy boutique stores online lately. Something I'm noticing with a lot of them is that they can't seem to make up their mind about what kind of dog cltohing they want to sell. Do they want to carry the premium dog clothes we all love but can't afford? Or do they want to see discount chihuahua clothes? With most of them, I see they're trying to be a jack of all trades, at least it looks that way to me...

The problem with the Swiss Army knife approach that many of these puppy boutiques are taking is that they're not really serving any one customer in particular. By trying to serve the discount puppy clothes customers AND the luxury puppy clothing people, they're not really hitting the mark with either. Maybe I've just had atypical experiences at these stores, but I don't think so.
