Goodbye Halloween Chihuahua Clothes!

With Halloween over, all the totally cute, super adorable Halloween dog costumes will be making their way back into the boxes and into storage for next year. But I thought as a final hoorah-woof for these little guys, I'd share CNN's coverage of the whole spectacle in one city. Check it out:

Costumes for Dogs Looking Like A Big Deal This Halloween!

It appears that dog owners of every kind are in the mood for playing dress up with their four legged friends. It Looks like 2011 could be the biggest year yet for Halloween dog costumes, according to the retail tracking organization known as the National Retail Federation. "It could be a record year for costumes this year, not just for people, but also their pets according to the National Retail Federation. People will be spending the most money this year on Halloween in at least the 9 years that the NRF has been tracking the number, and costumes for dogs is a growing part of that."

I don't know about you, but if I can get my chihuahua to look half as cute as this guy, I'll be one of the many it sounds like, having fun and forking over bones to enjoy dressing her up this Halloween!

Man spends $40K on his chihuahua!

Some Chewalla owners just can't help but splurge a pile money on their little doggies. This guy has opened up a new dog shop and has reportedly spent over $40K on his little Chihuahua alone! Check it out below:

It seems that the sky is the limit for some chihuahuas and their rich owners. I can't say that's me, but I sure do envy them!

Chihuahuas and Cesar Millan

Personally, I'm a big advocate of Cesar Millan and the philosophy he teaches in his show, The Dog Whisperer and in his books, seminars, and all his products. I think no matter what kind of a dog you have, be it a shelter rescue or a pure breed, a doberman or a chihuahua, you and your dogs and the relationship you share could suffer far worse things you following Cesar's advice. Famous Chihuahua just posted an article about this very thing, and I completely, 100% agree with them.

his work with tougher breeds has been phenomenal and has given many dogs a second chance. working with traditionally aggressive breeds like pit bulls and small protective dog breeds like chihuahuas has allowed cesar to succeed with communicating and rehabilitating dogs in a matter of minutes.

Hotdog With Mustard Dog Costumes... Delicious!

I wasn't always a fan of dog costumes, but I've been a fan of laughing for quite a while. I'm guessing that's why I love this hotdog with mustard costume so much! Check it out:

The hotdog costume is a favorite of many, in fact, and it's probably because not only is it so darn adorable (especially on chihuahuas and other tiny dogs!--little hotdogs, haha!), it has the whole double entendre going for it!

Dog Apparel for Small Dogs

I just wrote a little article about dog apparel for small dogs that speaks to the issue of people buying cute chihuahua clothes for their dogs but neglecting their dog's basic needs. I don't mean to imply that most dog owners dog this, but I'm seeing an alarming number of dogs that look great on the outside but that are clearly a having some issues on the inside. And when it comes to a dog's well being, I'm of the opinion that it's the owner who is responsible.

You can dress up your dogs in all the cutest dog apparel for small dogs that you want from the Chihuahua Shop, but if you don't walk your dog well, have some rules you maintain with him/her, and honor that side of your dog that IS a dog, no amount of cute chihuahua clothing is going to cover over the little monster you might end up with on your hands :(  Just some food for thought...

Dog Collars and Leads

Few dog lovers would argue that dog collars and leads are among the most prominent of your dog's jewelry and bling. Chihuahuas wear their fashionable dog collars all day long, and when you take your pet chihuahua for a walk, you use their leads/leash. For some (most, actually), the leash is simply a necessary tool for the walk. But for other chihuahua lovers, who are a bit more fashion-inclined, the lead is an opportunity to take their little chihuahua's fashion to the next level and really make a statement with a lead that matches their dog's collar!
