Puppy Coats For Keeping Little Dogs Warm

I've tried out a lot of puppy coats in my time with my little dogs.  I really can't help it actually: they're so darn cute, and what are you to do when your little bundle of love is shaking like mad all the time because she's cold?

I used to be completely opposed to the idea of dressing dogs up in clothes (read: they have fur, don't they?), but I've changed since co-adopting a pair of chihuahuas, and now I'm a big fan of chihuahua clothes and, in particular, puppy coats, which I've just written a little article you can check out there. I hope you like it!

Chihuahua Booties For Protecting Your Little Dog's Paw Pads

Chihuahua Booties help keep our little dog's tender pads protected from the concrete during the walk, and also help keep their paws clean from mud and dirt and the grime you'll find on the city pavement.  If you walk your chihuahua a lot, their pads can start to wear out over time, if you walk them on the sidewalk, so you might want to look into getting a pair of doggie boots for your pooch.

I've written a little article here about chihuahua booties for you to check out if you're interested in finding about more about this functional and fashionable chihuahua accessory, so check it out!

Dog Coats and Jackets

Until just a few years ago, I laughed at the notion of dog coats and jackets.  "Why would you dress your dog up in clothes?" I thought; "they have a coat of fur, already!"  Fast forward to where I get into a relationship with a dog lover who has a few little chihuahuas of her own, and then I could see the real benefit: those little dogs shiver a LOT, even in their native country of Mexico!  When it cools down at night, those little buggers head for the covers and they do everything they can to snuggle up and stay warm.

I found that you can really help these little guys out by dressing them in a layer or two of chihuahua clothing, and if you live in a cold place and you're going to take them outside for their walk, it helps them stay more comfortable if you can dress them up in a little dog jacket, of which there are quite a few available today in the pet stores and around the net in the online dog clothing stores.

I wrote a little article about them here you can check out to discover more about these cute little fashionable coats for dogs: http://www.chihuahuaclothes.co/coats-for-dogs/dog-coats-and-jackets-help-keep-your-dog-warm-and-comfortable

Be sure to let me know if you have a favorite spot for finding great coats and jackets for little dogs because I've been looking for good retailers online lately.  I live in Mexico right now and so far the only good place I've tried and actually liked their product has been G.W. Little, but I'd like to find a few other good online pet stores that sell these little dog coats, if you know of any...  Let me know, please! :)

3 Week-Old Chihuahua Puppy! Super Cute!

It's no surprise I have a soft spot for chihuahuas and this is way too cute to not share.  Check out this cute, tiny chihuahua pup at 20 days old!

She must have just opened her eyes if she's that young.  They are so darling at that age--well they are at any age, but especially when they're that young!  I hope she has a good home!

Dog Pyjamas: Is There Anything Cuter?

I'll admit it: I act tough on the outside, but inside I'm a sucker for cute little dogs.  Something about them just melts my heart, and so when my friend started parading her chihuahua around in dog pyjamas, I couldn't help but write about it!  I used to think little clothes like pajamas for dogs were a joke, but you realize once you start living with them that smaller dogs get cold at night in a way that larger breed dogs do not.  Something about having a higher metabolism and shorter hair makes them cool off quicker and shed their heat faster, as their more adapted for hot climates, and so if you live with little dogs, you'll probably find them constantly trying to "burrow" under the bed sheets at night!  Thus, dog pyjamas were born!

They're cute, they're warm, they keep your dog more comfortable and happy.  What more can you say?  If found a good place to buy them too: GW Little, an online dog clothing store I respect and trust, and so check them out!

Using Chihuahua Clothes To Socialize Your Little Dog, Part 2

I had another discussion with a chihuahua clothes adoring friend about finding puppy clothes for cheap and then using them to help socialize your dog.  Check out that article I linked to there for the rest of the story!  I think it will open a few people's eyes.  Friends of mine know I love my chihuahua clothes and dressing Namaste up in all her little adorable costumes, but when it comes to socializing a puppy, that is something that will have a profound effect on the rest of her life and as such, I take it seriously.  In some cases, I think using small dog clothing on your dog can help aid your socialization efforts, but other times this might not be the case: when kids are around, for example, having a little dog in training that is wearing cute clothing will often make the children want to touch and pick the dog up, which the little dog can find overwhelming and make him want to nip and bite in defense.  If this happens a few times, the dog can learn that as a strategy for keeping herself safe for the rest of her life, and that can be a very hard thing to undo later on!  If you're interested in dog training and giving your little dog a good life, I highly suggest you read the article: chihuahua clothes as a socialization tool

Costumes for Dogs: A Sign of The Universe's Humor

I recently wrote a mostly-for-self-amusement commentary on costumes for dogs that I think people who like this blog will enjoy.

How many of us have seen this: you're walking down the street, you turn the corner, and there walking down the street with his owner is a dog in a dog costume!?  Living in the city, I see this at least once a month and it's always a source of great personal amusement for me and then later on the people I recreate the scene for with my account of the moment ;)

As far as I'm concerned, anyone who looks at this and doesn't chuckle...

...is comedically dead, lol.

If you liked the article and are wondering where you might find some small breed dog costumes of your own, I found a good store for them here:  http://www.gwlittle.com/prod_detail_list/dog_costumes/?a=CHICLTH

The Fat Cat and The Chihuahua Mix: all you need are the clothes

...and you would have the perfect freakshow scene.  Still, it's still pretty funny without the chihuahua clothes; have a look:

Some refuse to chihuahuas and cats would get along like this, but I'm sure a lot of chi owners out there are nodding their head when I say that it's actually quite common.  I've got two chihuahuas of my own, my neighbor has three, and some of my friends have other breeds of little dogs, and a good portion of these animals interact just fine with cats, without so much as a hiccup.  May be hard to believe, but this thing about cats and dogs is far from being the case every time.
